Potato Modak | Ganesh chaturthi modak-Step by step photos & Video

Ingredients
- Rice flour -1.5 cups
- Salt to tate
- Oil - 1 tbsp
- Boiling water as required
- Stuffing:-
- Potato - 1 [boiled]
- Gigner & Garlic - 1 tbsp
- Green chilli - 1 tbsp
- Turmeric -1/4 tsp
- Cumin seeds - 1 tsp
- Chana dal, urad dal- 1 tbsp
- Salt to taste
- Oil - 2 tbsp
- Coriander, curry leaves - 1 spring
Method
Poornam (Stuffing)
- Heat oil in a pan, add mustars, chana, urad dal saute
- Add hing, curry leaves, ginger garlic, green chilli, onion saute
- Add Potato, turmeric, red chilli powder, salt saute for 2 min, mash well
- Add coriander leaves, cut off heat
- And this is called poornam (a stuffing which goes inside of the Kozhukkattai/modak).
Modak
- Take a bowl , add rice flour, salt & hot water mix well, cover lid, leave it for 5min.
- 5 min later, knead it to make soft dough consistency.
- Grease modak mould with ghee then fill the inner walls with rice flour dough mixture & leave some space for filling stuffing(poornam).
- Now fill the stuffing and seal the bottom of the modak bottom.
- Then demould & steam for 5 to 10 minutes. Then serve hot.
