How to make Onion chutney video
Ingredients
- Onion – 2
- Tamarind – ½ inch piece [optional]
- Garlic – 3 cloves
- Dry red chilli –2
- Chana dal - 1 tbsp
- Urad dal - 1 tbsp
- Oil – 1 tbsp
- Salt to taste
- Water as needed.
For seasoning [optional]
- Mustard seeds - 1 tbsp
- Asafoetida [hing, perungayam] - 1/4 tsp
- Curry leaves - 1 spring
- Oil - 1 tbsp
Method
- Heat 2 tbsp oil in a pan add chana dal, urad dal, dry red chilli, & garlic roast till light brown.
- Add onion, salt, saute till soft
- In a mixie jar add onion mixture, tamarind and salt finely grind.
- For seasoning:- Heat oil in a pan add mustard seeds, asafoetida & curry leaves.
- Add seasoned ingredients to onion chutney & Serve with idli, dosa or rice.

Heat 1 tbsp oil, add chana dal, urad dal
Add garlic ,dry red chilli
Add onion
Add salt
add tamarind, cut off heat
Put roasted ingredients in a mixie jar,finely grind
Onion chutney ready
Heat 1 tbsp oil, 1 tsp mustard seeds, hing, curry leaves
Add seasoning ingredients
Perfect onion chutney
Pyaz ki chutney
Vengaya chutney, serve hot with idli, dosa, or uthappam
