Ingredients
- Moong dal - 1/4 cup
- Water -3 cups
- Jaggery - 1/3 cup
Coconut - 1/4 cup - Cardamom powder - 1/2 tsp
- For outer layer:-
- Rice flour - 1.5 cups
- Water -2 cups
- Salt to taste
- Oil - 1 tbsp
Method
Poornam (Stuffing)
- Roast moong dal then boil until soft
- Add jaggery, coconut, cardamom powder, mix well to make soft dough
- Divide into equal size portions
Modak
- Take a bowl , add rice flour, salt, oil & hot water mix well, cover lid, leave it for 5min.
- 5 min later, knead it to make soft dough consistency.
- Grease modak mould with ghee then fill the inner walls with rice flour dough mixture & leave some space for filling stuffing(poornam).
- Now fill the stuffing and seal the bottom of the modak bottom.
- Then demould & steam for 5 to 10 minutes. Then serve hot.
