Ingredients

  • Cauliflower florets–1 cup
  • Gram flour [Besan, kadalai maavu] - 1/4cup
  • Rice flour - 3 tbsp
  • Red chilli powder – 2 tsp
  • Turmeric powder - ¼ tsp
  • Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
  • Asafoetida[Hing] – ¼ tsp
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil for deep frying
  • Water as needed

Preparation Method

  • Wash cauliflower florets for 3 to 4 times.
  • Heat water, add salt, turmeric powder, red chilli powder & cauliflower florets, cook for 3 to 4 min.
  • Then strain water from cauliflower & add cold water wash again to avoid further cooking.
  • In a bowl add gram flour, rice flour, turmeric, red chilli powder, asafotida, 1 tbsp hot oil mix well.
  • Add water, make flowing consistency batter without lumps.
  • Heat enough oil in a pan, dip cauliflower florets in gram flour batter, drop it in hot oil, deep fry till crisp and golden brown.
  • Once its ready remove it from oil drain on absorbent paper then serve hot with green chutney, tomato sauce or chilli sauce
