Ingredients
- Rice rava [Broken rice, pacharisi kurunai- 2 cups
- Onion - 1[sliced]
- Beans - 2 tbsp [Finely chopped]
- Carrot - 1 [Chopped]
- Potato - 1 [cut in to cubes]
- Green chilli - 1 [chopped]
- Ginger - 1 tbsp [finely chopped]
- Curry leaves - 1 spring
- Coriander leaves - 2 tbsp
- Mustard seeds - 1 tbsp
- Urad dal - 1 tbsp
- Bengal gram - 1 tbsp
- Oil - 3 tbsp
- Water - 4 cups
- Salt to taste
Preparation
- Dry roast rice rava, wash & soak for 10 min
- Heat oil in a pan, add mustard seeds, bengal gram, urad dal
- Add onion sauté till soft then add ginger, green chilli and curry leaves sauté gently.
- Add chopped carrot, beans & potato sauté till raw smell out.
- Add red chilli powder & turmeric powder.
- Add water, salt mix well and let it for boil.
- Add dry roasted rice rava mix well and stir well.
- Cover lid & cook for 3 whistles.
- Add chopped coriander leaves serve hot with chutney, or pickle
How to make Homemade rice rava / Pacharisi kurunai
- Wash and soak raw rice / boiled rice for 2 hours
- Then drain water completely.
- Spread raw rice over the cotton cloth let it dry for 1 hour
- Then put raw rice in a stone mortar crush gently or use mixie jar
- Dry roast broken rice for 3 min then let it cool
- Store in an airtight container use withi 1 month

Heat pressure cooker, add rice rava
Roast for 2 min
Now its ready
Put it in a bowl, wash & soak for 10 min
Heat oil, add mustard seeds, chana dal,& urad dal
Add curry leaves & green chilli
Add onion & salt
Add beans, carrot & potato
Add red chilli powder & turmeric powder
Add water, salt, let it boil
Add broken rice
Cover lid, cook for 3 whistles
Remove steam, gently mix
Add coriander leaves
Broken raw rice upma, serve hot with pickle or chutney
