Curry leaves onion chutney | Karuveppilai vengayam chutney

Ingredients
- Curry leaves – 1/2 cup
- Onion – 1
- Dry red chilli [Sigappu milagai, Vara Milagai]–1 or 2
- Green chilli –1
- Garlic – 3 cloves
- Coconut - 3 tbsp
- Tamarind – 1 inch piece
- Bengal gram[Chana dal, kadalai paruppu] – 1 tbsp
- Urad dal – 1 tbsp
- Water as needed
- Salt to taste
For seasoning [optional]
- Mustard seeds - 1 tbsp
- Curry leaves - 1 spring
- Asafetida[Hing]- 1/4 tsp
- Oil - 1 tbsp
Method
- Heat oil in a pan add bengal gram, urad dal, garlic, dry red chilli, green chilli, coconut, & onion saute till light brown
- Then add curry leaves, & tamarind, salt roast till soft.
- Put roasted ingredients in a mixer jar finely grind.
- For seasoning:- Heat oil in a pan add mustard seeds, asafetida & curry leaves
- Add seasoned ingredients to the ground mixture mix well then serve with idli, uthappam & dosa.
