Avarakkai kootu | Broad beans kootu-How to make-Step by step photos

Ingredients
- Avarakkai[Broad beans] – 1 cup
- Turmeric powder – ¼ tsp
- Curry leaves – 1 spring
- Mustard seeds – ½ tbsp
- Urad dal – ½ tbsp
- Bengal gram – ½ tbsp
- Dry red chilli–1
- Asafotida– ½ tsp
- Salt to taste
- Oil – 1 tbsp
- Water as needed
For grinding
- Cumin seeds – 1 tbsp [chopped]
- Coriander seeds – 1 tbsp [chopped]
- Garlic – 2 cloves [chopped]
- Ginger – 1 tbsp [chopped]
- Green chilli – 1 tbsp [chopped]
- Coconut – 2 tbsp [grated]
- Put above all ingredients in a mixer jar, grind to coarse paste or fine paste
Method
- Heat 2 tbsp oil in a pan add mustard seeds.
- Add bengal gram, urad dal, asafoetida, dry red chilli & curry leaves
- Add broad beans/Avarakkai, red chilli powder, turmeric powder & salt saute well
- Add water cook till soft.
- Add ground paste mix well, then cook for 3 min
- Then cut off heat & serve hot with rice
How to make Avarkkai/Broad beans kootu-Stepwise pictures
Heat 2 tbsp oil in a pan add mustard seeds, chana dal, urad dal, asafoetida, curry leaves, dry red chilli , fry then add broad beans saute for 3 min
Add red chilli powder, turmeric powder
Add water, cook till soft
In a mixie jar, add garlic, green chilli, ginger, cumin and coriander seeds
Add coconut, coarsely grind
Coconut mixture ready
Add salt, mix well
Add ground paste, let it boil for 3 min on medium flame
Now its ready, cut off heat
Serve hot with rice or millets
