Ingredients

  • Idli rice / rice–1 cup
  • Urad dal - 1/4 cup
  • Orange food colour - a pinch
  • Baking soda / Powder -1/2 tsp
  • Water as required
  • Oil for deep frying

For Sugar syrup

  • Sugar -1 cup
  • Water - 1/4 cup
  • Cardamom powder - 1 tsp

Preparation Method

  • Wash & soak rice & urad for 3 hours.
  • Then drain water completely
  • Put it in blender/ mixie jar add soaked rice, urad dal coarsely grind with small amount of water.
  • Add food colour mix well.
  • Heat sugar, & water, let it boil till 1 string consistency.
  • Add cardamom powder cut off heat
  • Heat oil in a pan, make small balls out of the mixture, drop it in medium hot oil, deep fry till light brown.
  • Drain on absorbent paper then put it in sugar syrup & soak it for 5 min.
  • Then serve with tea or coffee
