Pavakkai pakoda | Crispy bittergourd pakoda-How to make-Step by step photos

Ingredients
- Pavakkai [Bittergourd, karela]– 1 cup or 1
- Gram flour - 1/2 cup
- Rice flour – 1/4 cup or 4 tbsp
- Red chilli powder - ½ tsp
- Turmeric powder – ¼ tsp
- Chaat masala powder– 1 tbsp
- Asafoetida[Hing, perungayam]- 1/4 tsp
- Lemon juice - 2 tbsp or juice of 1 lemon
- Oil - 1 tbsp
- Salt to taste
- Oil for deep frying
- Water - 3 tbsp
Preparation
- Wash and thinly slice bittergourd.
- Add bittergourd slices in a bowl add lemon juice, salt, turmeric & red chilli powder mariante for 10 min.
- In a bowl add gram flour, rice flour, chaat masala pwoder, asafoetida, red chilli, turmeric powder, salt & oil mix well
- Add marinated bitter gourd & 3 tbsp of water mix well [dont add too much water].
- Heat oil in a pan, add bittergourd slices, deep fry till crisp & golden brown on medium hot oil.
- Once its ready remove from oil & drain on absorbent paper.
- Serve hot with curd rice, evening snack, tea or coffee
How to make Bittergourd pakoda- Step by step photos
Take 1 bittergourd, wash 2 to 3 times
Thinly slice
Add salt
Add lemon juice
Add red chilli powder
Add turmeric powder
Add hing, mix well, cover it and leave it for 10 min
In a bowl or plate add gram flour, rice flour
Add hing
Add red chilli powder, turmeric & chaat masala
Add salt
Mix well
Add lemon marinated bittergourd, mix well
Sprinkle water[3 tbsp] mix well, & leave it for 5 min
Heat oil in a pan, drop bittergourd slices
Deep fry till crisp and golden brown on medium hot oil
Now its ready, remove it from oil
Crispy bittergourd pakoda ready
Serve hot withcurd rice, tea or coffee
