Palak matar | Spinach green peas curry-How to make-Step by step photos & video

Spinach and green peas are best combination for gravy. It is bright green curry within 10 to 15 min. I didnt add cream or tomato. Instead of cream i added cashewnut paste for creaminess and richness. For rich earthy flavour i used kasoori methi [dried fenugreek leaves] . It is perfect side dish for rice, chapathi, naan, kulcha, idli or dosa
How to make Palak matar video
Ingredients
- Green peas [matar] – 1 cup
- Spinach – 1 bunch
- Cashewnut paste - 1/4 cup
- Cumin – 1 tbsp
- Green cardamom –2
- Bay leaf – 1
- Garam masala- ¼ tbsp
- Turmeric powder – ¼ tsp
- Red chilli powder – ½ tbsp
- coriander powder - 1 tsp
- Kasoori methi powder– 1 tbsp
- Salt to taste
- Ghee – 2 tbsp
- Oil – 2 tbsp
Preparation
- Wash and cook spinach for 2 min then drain water & grind to fine puree.
- Heat pan with oil & ghee then add bay leaf, cardamom, cumin, saute till you get nice aroma
- Add ginger, garlic, green chilli & onion saute till soft
- Add cooked green peas, turmeric, red chilli powder, coriander powder & garam masala powder saute for 2 min
- Add water cook till soft
- Add spianch puree cook for 3 min
- Add cashewnut paste cook for 2 min
- Add kasoori methi, mix well then cut off heat
- Then Serve hot with roti, naan and rice.
Note
- Don’t overcook spinach. It loses its color, nutrition and flavor.

Boil spianch till soft
Cut off heat, let it cool
Put it in a mixie jar, finey grind
Heat pan, add oil & ghee
Add cumin, cardamom, bayleaf
Heat pan, add onion, green chilli, garlic, ginger saute till soft
Add green peas
Add turmeric, red chilli, coriander powder
Add garam masala powder
add water, boil till soft
Now its ready
Add spinach puree
Add salt
In a mixie jar, add cashews, water, grind to fine puree
Cashew paste/puree ready
Add cashewnut paste
Add kasoori methi, cut off heat
Serve hot with rice
