One pot sorakkai kuzhambu-How to make step by step photos

Ingredients
- Sorakkai[Lauki, bottle gourd]– 1 cup or half veg
- Tomato – 1 [chopped]
- Onion - 1
- Green chilli -1
- Garlic –3 cloves
- Curry leaves – 1 spring
- Coriander leaves – 2 springs [chopped]
- Turmeric powder – ¼ tsp
- Red chilli powder – ½ tsp
- Garam masala powder –1 tsp
- Mustard seeds – 1 tbsp
- Bengal gram – 1 tbsp
- Urad dal – 1/2 tbsp
- Asafetida a pinch
- Salt to taste
- Oil – 2 tbsp
- Water as needed
Method
- Heat 2 tbsp oil in a pressure cooker add mustard seeds, let ti splutter.
- Add bengal gram, urad dal saute till light brown
- Add hing, curry leaves, green chilli, onion, garlic, tomato, garam masala, turmeric, red chilli powder, saute till soft.
- Add sorakkai[bottle gourd] cover lid & cook for 3 to 4 whistles.
- Once its ready, remove steam, mash well.
- Sprinkle coriander leaves, serve hot with rice, chaapthi, idli or dosa.

Fresh sorakkai
Lauki / bottle gourd
Wash and peel off the skin
Chop
Take 1 red onion
Heat 2 tbsp oil in a pressure cooker add mustard, urad dal, bengal gram, garlic, green chilli & curry leaves
Add asafoetida[Hing, perungayam]
Add tomato, turmeric, red chilli powder
Add garam masala
Saute till soft
Add bottle gourd
Saute for 3 min
Add salt
Add water
Cover lid, cook for 4 whistles
After 4 whistles
Mash well
