Ingredients
- Rice– 1 cup
- Moong dal – 1/4 cup
- Drumstick leaves[Murungai keerai]- 1/2 cup
- Tomato – 1 [chopped]
- Onion - 1
- Garlic – 3 cloves
- Curry leaves – 1 spring
- Turmeric powder – ¼ tsp
- Red chilli powder – ½ tsp
- Cumin seeds– ½ tbsp
- Mustard seeds – 1 tbsp
- Asafetida a pinch
- Salt to taste
- Oil – 2 tbsp
- Water - 4 cups
Method
- Wash rice, drumstick leaves & moong dal separately.
- Heat oil in a pressure cooker add mustard seeds & cumin seeds..
- Add onion, garlic, curry leaves, asafoetida & salt mix well.
- Add drumstick leaves, moong dal, rice, turmeric powder & red chilli powder
- Add water, & salt mix well, then cover lid & cook for 3 to 4 whistles.
- After 4 whistles, remove steam, serve hot with ghee, papad or pickle

Add curry leaves & asafoetida
Add salt
Add tomato
Add drumstick leaves
Add moong dal
Add turmeric powder
Add red chilli powder
Add rice
Mix well
Add water, mix well,
Add salt, cover lid & cook for 4 whistles
