How to make One pot beetroot sambar video
Ingredients
- Beetroot – 1 cup [cut into circles]
- Toor dal – ¼ cup
- Tamarind water – 1/4 cup [soak 1 inch size tamarind in warm water, squeeze &extract water]
- Tomato – 1 [chopped]
- Onion [Shallots] - 7
- Green chilli – 1 [slit]
- Garlic – 3 cloves
- Curry leaves – 1 spring
- Coriander leaves – 2 springs [chopped]
- Turmeric powder – ¼ tsp
- Red chilli powder – ½ tsp
- Sambar powder - 2 tbsp
- Mustard seeds – 1 tbsp
- Asafetida a pinch
- Salt to taste
- Oil – 2 tbsp
- Water as needed
Method
- Wash toor dal.
- Heat pressure cooker add oil, mustard, chana dal, & urad dal fry for a min.
- Add fenugreek powder saute for a min
- Add curry leaves, asafoetida, green chilli, onion, saute well
- Add garlic, turmeric, red chilli powder, tomato, beetroot, mix well
- Add toor dal, saute for a min
- Add water, cover lid & cook for 3 to 4 whistles.
- Then add tamarind water, cook for 5 min
- Add coriander leaves, cut off heat
- Then serve hot with rice, idli or dosa.

Heat pressure cooker, add 2 tbsp oil
Add chana dal, urad dal
Add curry leaves, asafoetida
Add garlic, green chilli & onion
Add fenugreek powder
Add tomato
Add beetroot
Add turmeric powder
Add red chilli powder
Add sambar powder
Saute for 2 min
Add Toor dal
Add salt
Add water
Boil for 2 min
Cover lid
Cook for 4 whistles
Remove steam, mash well
Add tamarind water
Add coriander leaves, cut off heat
Perfect beetroot sambar ready
Serve hot with rice, idli, dosa
