How to make Murungai poo sambar [Drumstick flower] video
Ingredients
- Murungai poo [Drumstick leaves]– 1/4 cup [cut into circles]
- Toor dal – 1/2 cup
- Tamarind water – 1/4 cup [soak 1 inch size tamarind in warm water, squeeze &extract water]
- Tomato – 2 [chopped]
- Onion [Shallots] - 7
- Green chilli – 1 [slit]
- Garlic – 3 cloves
- Ginger - 1 tbsp
- Curry leaves – 1 spring
- Turmeric powder – ¼ tsp
- Red chilli powder – ½ tsp
- Sambar powder - 2 tbsp
- Mustard seeds – 1 tbspp
- Urad dal - 1 tsp
- Asafetida a pinch
- Salt to taste
- Oil – 2 tbsp
- Water as needed
Method
- Wash toor dal 2 to 3 times.
- Heat pressure cooker, add toor dal, turmeric, & water cook for 3 to 4 whistles
- Wash & pluck murungai poo
- Heat pan add mustard seeds, urad dal, onion, ginger, garlic, curry leaves, asafoetida saute
- Add murungai poo saute for 1 min
- Add tomato saute till soft
- Add pressure cooked toor dal, tamarind water,salt, turmeric, red chilli & sambar powder mix well, let it boil for 5 min
- Once its ready, cut off heat, serve hot with rice, millets, idli, dosa, pongsl or upma

Add red chilli, turmeric powder, sambar powder
Add pressure cooked toor dal
Add tamarind water
Cook for 5 min
