Chettinad paal paniyaram is simple & healthy snack for kids. Crispy globe shaped fried paniyaram in sweet aromatic coconut milk mixture. We can make paniyaram in 2 methods. 1 for deep frying method [If the batter is not fluffy, it will burst]. 2 nd simple method is appam/paniyaram pan method. Coconut milk is best for skin & hair. cardamom powder gives fragrance. You can add fried nuts & saffron.
How to make Chettinad paal paniyaram video
Ingredients
- Idli rice / rice–1 cup or raw rice - 1 cup
- Urad dal - 1/4 cup or urad dal - 3/4 cup
- Baking soda / Powder -1/2 tsp
- Salt a pinch
- Water as required
- Oil for deep frying
- Coconut milk - 1 cup
- Milk - 1/2 cup
- Cardamom pods - 3
- Sugar /jaggery- 1/2 cup
Preparation Method
- Wash & soak rice & urad for 3 hours.
- Then drain water completely
- Put it in blender/ mixie jar add soaked rice, urad dal grind to smooth and fluffy batter with small amount of water.
- Transfer batter to a bowl add salt and baking powder mix well.
- Heat oil in a pan, make small balls out of the mixture, drop it in medium hot oil, deep fry till light brown for 2 min.
- Drain on absorbent paper then keep it aside
- Heat milk in a pan let it boil for 5 min
- Add sugar let it boil for 2 min.
- Add coconut milk boil on low flame for 3 min
- Add cardamom powder, mix well & cut off heat.
- Add fried balls then serve hot or chilled
How to make Chettinad paal paniyaram at home -Step by step photos
Take 1 cup rice & 1/4 cup urad dal
Wash and soak it for 3 hours
After 3 hours, drain water
Now its ready to grind
In a mixie jar add saoked rice & urad dal, coarsely grind with small amount of water
Batter ready
Drop it in hot oil
Now its ready, remove it from oil
Fried balls ready
In a mixie jar, add coconut
Grind
Add cardamom pods, water, grind
Ground coconut paste ready
Strain without lumps
Coconut milk ready
Heat milk, let it boil
Add sugar
Add coconut milk
Let it boil for 3 min on low flame
Add fried balls, cut off heat
Delicious paal paniyaram ready, serve hot or cold
