Tomato masala curry By


Cuisine Style: Tamil Nadu, South India | Cooking Time: 15 minutes | To Serve: 4 | Take with: Idli, Dosa, Rice, Chapathi | Type : Sambar, Gravy, kulambu, curry, masala.

Ingredients

  • Tomato– 2 [chopped]
  • Onion – 1 [sliced]
  • Ginger & garlic paste – 1 tbsp
  • Green chilli -1 [slit length wise or chopped]
  • Curry leaves – 1 spring
  • Turmeric Powder – ¼ tsp
  • Red Chilli Powder – 1 tsp
  • Cumin Powder – ¼ tsp
  • Cumin seeds – ½ tbsp
  • Coriander Powder – ½ tbsp
  • Garam Masala Powder – 1 tsp
  • Mustard seeds – ½ tbsp
  • Cinnamon Stick – ½ stick
  • Cloves – 2
  • Sugar a pinch
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil – 2 tbsp
  • Water as needed

Method

  • Heat oil in a pan then add cinnamon stick, cloves, & mustard seeds. Once it’s spluttered add cumin seeds & curry leaevs sauté.
  • Add onion sauté till soft.
  • Add green chilli, ginger & garlic paste sauté well.
  • Add turmeric powder, red chilli powder, coriander powder, cumin powder & garam masala powder sauté well.
  • Add Tomato sauté well then add salt & enough water [¼ cup] cook till raw smell out & thickens.
  • When boiling add sugar cook for 2 min then cut off heat, Serve hot with chapathi, dosa or rice
