Ingredients
- Turkey berry[Sundakkai] - Half cup
- Jackfruit seeds[Palakottai] -6
- Small Onion (Sambar Onion) - 6
- Tomato - 1 [chop]
- Dry red chilli - 1
- Garlic – 3 cloves[mashed]
- Tamarind juice – 1/4 cup
- Turmeric powder - 1 tsp
- Red chilli powder - 1 tsp
- Curry leaevs - 1 spring
- Mustard seed - 1 tbsp
- Urad Dal - 1 tbsp
- Chana dal - 1 tbsp
- Jaggery - 1 tbsps
- Asafoetida[Hing, perungayam]-1 tsp
- Sesame oil - 3 tbsp
- Water as needed
For roasting & grindind ingredients
- Toor dal- 1 tbsp
- Chana dal -1 tbsp
- Urad dal - 1 tbsp
- Rice - 1 tbsp
- Cumin seeds- ½ tbsp
- Coriander seeds – 1 tbsp
- Peppercorns- ½ tbsp
- Dry red chilli – 1
- Coconut - 2 tbsp
- Heat oil in a pan, add all ingredients, saute till light brown, then grind to fine paste with half glass of water
- Fenugreek seeds - 1 tbsp [Dry roast & coarsely grind]
Preparation
- Boil jackfruit seeds with red chilli & turmeric powder till soft.
- Wash & cut turkey berry into half. Then remove seeds.
- Heat oil in pan add mustard, urad dal, & chana dal fry.
- Add curry leaves & onion saute till soft
- Add garlic, dry red chilli, fenugreek powder & asafoetida saute.
- Add tomato saute till soft
- Add turkey berry, tumeric & red chilli powder saute.
- Add jackfruit seeds saute & water saute till soft
- Add ground mixture & tamarind water let it boil till raw smell out.
- Add Salt & Jaggery let it boil for 3 min.
- Finally add 2 tbsp sesame oil uct off heat, serve hot boiled rice or millets.

Wash turkey berry
Cut into half
Add water, remove seeds
Mash with your hand to remove seeds then drain water
Dry roast fenugreek
Coarsely grind
Boil jackfruit seeds with turmeric & red chilli powder
Peel off the skin, cut into half
Heat pan, add toor dal, chan dal, urad dal, rice
Add 1 tbsp oil, roast till light brown
Add dry red chilli, cumin, coriander & peppercorn roast
Add 2 tbsp grated coconut roast till light brown
Add all roasted ingredients & finely grind with half glass of water
Heat oil, add mustard,chana dal, urad dal, dry red chilli, hing, curry leaves,onion, saute
Add garlic & fenugreek powder saute for 1 min
Add tomato saute till soft
Add turkey berry, saute
Add boiled jackfruit seeds, turmeric & red chilli powder saute for 2 min
Add 2 cups of water cook till soft
Add ground paste
Add water, let it boil for 3 min
After 3 min
Add tamarind water, boil till raw smell out
Add jaggery & salt, let it boil for another 2 min
Cut off heat, add sesame oil
Sundakkai Kara Kuzhambu ready, serve hot with rice
