Ingredients
- Rice - 1 cup
- Jeera (Cumin seed) - 10 gms
- Ghee - 2 Tbsp
- Pepper - 2 nos
- Red Chilli - 3 nos
- Asafoetida - 1 tsp
- Mustard seed - 1 tbsp
- Curry leaves
- Salt to taste
Preparation
- Boil the rice in less water and spread it in a big plate.
- Heat the ghee in a pan, Dry roast Cumin seed.
- Coarse grind half quantity of the cumin seed and keep it aside.
- Heat the pan, splutter mustard seed.
- Add curry leaves, Asafoetida, Red chilli and fry for 2 minutes.
- Mix cooked rice.
- Add coarse ground and dry roasted cumin seed.
- Pour 1 tbsp of ghee then mix well.
- Add salt to taste.
Note
- Use fresh ghee.
Tip
- 2 to 3 ground pepper will add extra taste.

Cumin seeds - 1 tbsp
Peppercorns -1 tsp
Roast
Put it in a stone mortar, let ti cool then grind
Heat pan, add oil & ghee
Add cumin seeds
Asafoetida
Curry leaves, dry red chilli
Boiled basmati rice - 2 cups
Salt to taste
Coarsely grind cumin & Pepper
Now its ready
Add cumin pepper mixture
Add coriander leaves
Soaked red kidney beans
Add more coriander leave for flavour
Perfect jeera rice ready
