Seema kathirikai paruppu kootu | Chow chow moong dal kootu | Chayote moong dal dry curry

Ingredients
- Seema kathirikai [chow chow, chayote]– 1 cup [peel off the skin, chop]
- Moong dal [pachai paruppu]– 3 tbsp
- Dry red chilli – 1
- Green chilli -1
- Sambar Onion – 7 [chopped]
- Curry leaves – 1 spring
- Mustard seeds – 1 tbsp
- Bengal gram – ½ tbsp
- Urad dal – ½ tbsp
- Red chilli powder – 1 tsp
- Turmeric powder – ¼ tsp
- Coconut - 2 tbsp [grated]
- Salt to taste
- Oil – 2 tbsp
- Water as needed
Method
- Dry roast moong dal then wash.
- Boil moong dal with turmeric powder in an open pan for 10 min
- Heat oil in a pan add mustard seeds & let it splutter.
- Then add bengal gram, urad dal saute.
- Add sambar onion, dry red chilli, green chilli & curry leaves sauté till soft.
- Add chow chow sauté for 3 min.
- Add turmeric powder, red chilli powder & salt sauté well.
- Add enough water cook till soft
- Then add boiled moong dal & coconut mix well
- Then cut off heat, serve hot with rice or chapatti.
