How to make Spinach pulav Video
Ingredients
- Basmati rice or jeera rice – 1 cup
- Spinach - 1 cup [chopped]
- Onion – 1 [sliced]
- Green chilli - 1 [sliced]
- Ginger – 1 tbsp [grated]
- Garlic – 1 tbsp [grated]
- Fennel seeds – 1 tbsp
- Green cardamom - 2
- Cinnamon stick- 1
- Mace[nutmeg flower]- 1
- Cloves - 2
- Star anise - ½ flower
- Peppercorns – ½ tbsp
- Red chilli powder – ½ tbsp
- Turmeric powder – ¼ tsp
- Mint leaves – 2 springs
- Salt to taste
- Ghee – 1 tbsp
- Oil – 2 tbsp
Preparation Method
- Wash & soak basmati rice for ½ an hour.
- Wash & chop spinach
- Boil water in a broad pan, add cardamom, ghee & soaked basmati rice, cook till 3/4th.
- Then drain water, cover lid & leave it for 5 min.
- Spread rice over the plate let it cool.
- Heat oil & ghee in a pan, add green cardamom, fennel seeds, cinnamon stick, star anise, cloves, fry till you get nice aroma
- Add onion sauté till light brown
- Add ginger & garlic sauté.
- Add green chilli, & spinach saute.
- Add Red chilli powder & turmeric powder saute for 2 min.
- Add basmati rice & salt mix well.
- Sprinkle mint leaves & serve hot with salna kurma and raita.

Wash spinach
Finely chop
Boil water with green cardamom pods
Add soaked basmati rice
Let it boil till soft
Check rice[3/4 th cooking done, cut off heat]
Drain extra water
Add drained rice, cover lid, leave it for 5 min
Heat pan, add ghee & oil
Take 7 aromatic spices
Add spices, fry for a min
Add onion, saute till light brown
Add ginger, garlic & green chilli
Add Spinach
Add turmeric powder
Add red chilli powder, saute for 2 min
Add rice & salt, mix well
Add mint leaves then cut off heat, serve hot with raita
