Ingredients
- Varagu arisi [kodo millet] -2 cups [boiled]
- Water – 3 cups
- Coconut-1 cup [grated]
- Ground nut – ¼ cup [roasted, peeled]
- Mustard seeds- 2 tsp
- Urad dal - 1 tsp
- Bengal Gram-1 tbsp
- Black pepper - 7
- Green chillies-2 slit
- Ginger- 1 inch smashed
- Curry leaves- 2 springs
- Asafetida a pinch
- Oil-2 tbsp
- Coconut oil - 1 tbsp
- Salt to taste
Preparation
- Wash & soak varagu arisi for 15 min. Then drain water.
- Heat pressure cooker add 3 cups of water & soaked varagu arisi then cook for 3 whistles.
- Then leave it for cool. Or Boil the rice in less water, spread over the plate to cool.
- Heat oil in a pan then add mustard seed & let it splutter.
- Then add Bengal gram, urad dal, green chilli, peppercorns, roasted ground nuts, asafetida, ginger and curry leaves one by one.
- Add grated coconut and salt mix well. Add boiled rice and mix well.
- Sprinkle coconut oil mix well then cut off heat. Serve hot.
