Ingredients

  • Bengal gram – 3 tbsp [soaked for 2 hours]
  • Carrot -2 [chopped]
  • Coconut – ¼ cup [grated]
  • Green chilli – 1[chopped]
  • Onion – 1[sliced]
  • Curry leaves – 1 spring
  • Mustard seeds – ½ tbsp
  • Cumin seeds – ½ tbsp
  • Urad dal – ½ tbsp
  • Bengal gram – ½ tbsp
  • Turmeric powder – ¼ tsp
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil – 1 ½ tbsp
  • Water as needed

Preparation

  • Wash and soak Bengal gram for 2 hours. Then boil with turmeric powder till soft.
  • Chop carrot and boil separately.
  • Heat pan with oil add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, Bengal gram and urad dal. Then add onion sauté till soft.
  • Add coconut, green chilli and curry leaves then add boiled carrot, Bengal gram and sprinkle salt mix well.
  • Finally add 2 tbsp grated coconut and serve hot with rice.
