Ingredients
- Moong dal – 1/4 cup [soaked for 1 hour]
- Cabbage -1/2 [chopped]
- Coconut – ¼ cup [grated]
- Green chilli – 1[chopped]
- Onion – 1[sliced]
- Curry leaves – 1 spring
- Mustard seeds – ½ tbsp
- Urad dal – ½ tbsp
- Bengal gram – ½ tbsp
- Turmeric powder – ¼ tsp
- Red hcilli powder - 1 tsp
- Salt to taste
- Oil – 1 ½ tbsp
- Water as needed
Preparation
- Wash and soak moong dal for 1 hour.
- Heat pan with oil add mustard seeds, Bengal gram and urad dal.
- Then add onion sauté till soft.
- Add green chilli and curry leaves
- Add moong dal, salt saute for 2 min
- Add cabbage, turmeric, red chilli powder, saute for 2 min
- Add water cook till soft
- Finally add coconut, saute for 1 min, cut off heat.
- Serve hot with rice, millets

Cabbage moong dal poriyal
Add 1/4 cup moong dal
wash 2 times
Soak it for 30 min to 1 hour
1 hour later
Take 1/2 cabbage
Thinly slice
Soaked moong dal ready
Oil, mustard, chana , urad dal, hing
Onion, curry leaves, green chilli
Add soaked moong dal saute for 2 min
Add cabbage saute for 2min
Add salt
Add turmeric powder, red chilli powder
Add water, boil till soft
Cover lid, cook till soft
Cook for 5 min
Add coconut saute for 2 min
Perfect poriyal, thoran, palya ready
Perfect texture
Serve hot with rice
