Bottle gourd curry By

Ingredients

  • Suraikai [Bottle gourd] -1
  • Sambar Onion [Shallots] – 6
  • Garlic – 2 cloves [mashed]
  • Green chilli – 1 [slit]
  • Curry leaves – 1 spring
  • Bengal gram – 1 tbsp
  • Urad dal – ½ tbsp
  • Turmeric powder – ¼ tsp
  • Red chilli powder - ½ tsp
  • Mustard seeds – 1 tbsp
  • Cumin seeds – ½ tbsp
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil – 2 tbsp
  • Water as needed

Method

  • Peel off the Bottle gourd skin. Then wash & chop.
  • Heat pan with oil then add mustard seeds, cumin seeds & let it splutter. Then add sambar onion & garlic sauté till soft.
  • Add Bengal gram, urad dal, green chilli & curry leaves sauté.
  • Add chopped suraikai, red chilli powder & turmeric powder cook till soft.
  • Once cooked mash then add salt cut off heat then serve hot with rice.
