Bottle gourd curry | Suraikai masiyal | Suraikai kadayal

Ingredients
- Suraikai [Bottle gourd] -1
- Sambar Onion [Shallots] – 6
- Garlic – 2 cloves [mashed]
- Green chilli – 1 [slit]
- Curry leaves – 1 spring
- Bengal gram – 1 tbsp
- Urad dal – ½ tbsp
- Turmeric powder – ¼ tsp
- Red chilli powder - ½ tsp
- Mustard seeds – 1 tbsp
- Cumin seeds – ½ tbsp
- Salt to taste
- Oil – 2 tbsp
- Water as needed
Method
- Peel off the Bottle gourd skin. Then wash & chop.
- Heat pan with oil then add mustard seeds, cumin seeds & let it splutter. Then add sambar onion & garlic sauté till soft.
- Add Bengal gram, urad dal, green chilli & curry leaves sauté.
- Add chopped suraikai, red chilli powder & turmeric powder cook till soft.
- Once cooked mash then add salt cut off heat then serve hot with rice.
