Ingredients for khara kolukattai:-
- Chana dal - 3 tbsp [boiled]
- Mustard seeds -1 tbsp
- Chana dal, urad dal , sesame seeds- 1 tbsp
- Green chilli - 1
- Ginger - 1 tbsp
- Coconut - 3 tbsp
- Hing - 1/2 tsp
- Turmeric - 1/2 tsp
- Red chilli powder - 1/2 tsp
- Curry, coriander leaves - 2 spring
- Salt to taste
- Oil -1 tbsp
Ingredients for Sweet kolukattai:-
- Chana dal - 1/2 cup [125 gram]
- Water - 2.5 cups
- Jaggery - 1/3 cup [80 gram]
- Cardamom - 1/2 tsp
- Coconut - 1/4 cup
- Ghee & Oil - 1 tbsp
Ingredients For paal kolukattai:-
- Milk -1 cup [250ml]
- Sugar -1/4 cup
- Cardamom powder -1/4 tsp
- Saffron a pinch
Preparation for outer layer:-
- Add rice flour, hot water, salt, mix well, cover lid, leave it for 5 min
- 5 min later, mix well, make soft dough
Preparation for Kara kolukattai:-
- Roast chana dal, wash and pressure cook for 3 to 4 whistle
- Heat oil in a pan, add mustard seeds, hing, Bengal gram, urad dal, sesame seeds, ginger, green chilli, curry leaves, coconut saute for a min
- Add boiled chana dal, mash well, keep it aside
- Take rice flour dough, divide into eqal size balls, make thick circle, place filling close and ball again
- Steam it for 5 to 8 min
Preparation for sweet kolukattai:-
- Heat pan, add boiled chana dal, coconut, cardamom, jaggery, sesame, ghee, pinch of salt,
- mash well, let it cool
- Grease mold with ghee or oil
- Take lemon size rice flour dough, evenly spread, place filling, close it then remove extra dough, demold
- Then steam it for 5 to 8 minutes in a steamer (idli cooker or idli koppar) & offer to god, serve hot
Preparation for paal kolukattai:-
- Heat milk add sugar, cardamom powder, saffron
- Take rice flour dough, make mini balls, place it in a milk
- Boil for 5 to 10 min
- Or steam mini balls then add
