Moong dal mango kosambari for kids-How to make-Step by step photos

This is simple and healthy kosambari for kids. Traditional kosambari is a salad with moong dal, carrot, coconut & cucumber with seasoning. But my preparation is mainly for kids. My son doesnt like raw moong dal. So i sauted all these ingredients for just 2 min. Then for twist and flavour i added raw mango cubes and roasted peanut for crunchiness.
You can add pomegranate & sev for flavour
Ingredients
- Moong dal – ½ cup
- Mustard seeds – 1 tbsp
- Green chilli – 1 [finely chopped]
- Curry leaves – 1 spring
- Raw mango - 3 tbsp
- Carrot – 3 tbsp [grated]
- Coconut – 2 tbsp [grated]
- Coriander leaves – 2 tbsp [chopped]
- Salt to taste
- Oil – 1 tbsp
Preparation
- Wash and soka moong dal for 2 hours.
- Heat oil in a pan add mustard seeds & let it splutter.
- Then add green chilli,carrot & curry leaves saute.
- Add raw mango, moong dal and salt sauté for 2 mins.
- Then add coconut, & coriander leaves mix well & cut off heat. Serve hot.
How To Make Moong dal kosambari for kids - Step by Step photos
Soak Moong dal for 3 hours
Drain water
Heat 1.5 tbsp oil, add mustard seeds, & green chilli
Add asafoetida
Add green chilli, carrot, & grated coconut
Saute for 2 min
Add turmeric powder
Add salt
Add soaked moong dal
Saute for 2 min
Heat raw mango, red chilli powder, turmeric powder
Add sauted mango, mix well
Add roasted peanuts, cut off heat
