Ingredients

  • Karamani - 1 cup
  • Onion -1 cup
  • Garlic - 3
  • Dry red chilli - 2
  • Curry leaves - 2 spring
  • Hing -1/2 tsp
  • Turmeric - 1/2 tsp
  • Red chilli powder - 1 tbsp
  • Coriander powder - 1 tbsp
  • Sambar powder - 1 tbsp
  • Salt to taste
  • Tomato - 2
  • Tamarind water - 1 cup
  • Sesame oil - 4 tbsp

Method

  • Wash & boil karamani [cow pea] in a pressure cooker for 3 whistles with turmeric, salt, red chilli powder.
  • Heat oil in a pan add mustard seeds & let its splutter.
  • Then add Bengal gram & urad dal.
  • Add onion, garlic sauté till golden brown.
  • Add dry red chilli &curry leaves, tomato, & asafetida.
  • Add boiled karamani, salt, turmeric & red chilli powder sauté well.
  • Add samabr powder, tamarind water, mix well & let it boil.
  • Then pour 1 tbsb of gingelly oil, cut off heat. Serve hot with rice
