Karamani puli kuzhambu | Cow pea in tamarind curry

Ingredients
- Karamani - 1 cup
- Onion -1 cup
- Garlic - 3
- Dry red chilli - 2
- Curry leaves - 2 spring
- Hing -1/2 tsp
- Turmeric - 1/2 tsp
- Red chilli powder - 1 tbsp
- Coriander powder - 1 tbsp
- Sambar powder - 1 tbsp
- Salt to taste
- Tomato - 2
- Tamarind water - 1 cup
- Sesame oil - 4 tbsp
Method
- Wash & boil karamani [cow pea] in a pressure cooker for 3 whistles with turmeric, salt, red chilli powder.
- Heat oil in a pan add mustard seeds & let its splutter.
- Then add Bengal gram & urad dal.
- Add onion, garlic sauté till golden brown.
- Add dry red chilli &curry leaves, tomato, & asafetida.
- Add boiled karamani, salt, turmeric & red chilli powder sauté well.
- Add samabr powder, tamarind water, mix well & let it boil.
- Then pour 1 tbsb of gingelly oil, cut off heat. Serve hot with rice
