Instant kadhi pakora-How to make-Step by step photos

Cuisine Style: North india | Cooking Time: 8 to 10 minutes | To Serve: 4 | Type : Curry | Take with : Idli, dosa, rice or chapathi
Ingredients for batter
- Gram flour[Kadalai maavu, besan]– 1/4 cup
- Curd– 1 cup
- Red chilli powder – ½ tbsp
- Turmeric powder – ½ tsp
- Garam masala - 1/ tbsp
- Salt to taste
- Water as needed
Ingredients for Leftover semiya pakora
- Leftover semiya upma or fresh boiled semiya– 1/4 cup
- Red chilli powder – ½ tbsp
- Turmeric powder – ½ tsp
- Gram flour - 3 tbsp
- Rice flour - 2 tbsp
- Salt to taste
- Oil for deep frying
Ingredients for seasoning
- Onion – 1 [sliced]
- Ginger– 1 tbsp
- Garlic – 1 tbsp
- Green chilli – 1 or 2
- Curry leaves – 1 spring
- Coriander leaves – 2 springs [chopped]
- Mustard seeds – 1 tbsp
- Cumin seeds – 1 tbsp
- Hing– 1/4 tsp
- Salt to taste
- Oil – 2 tbsp
- Water as needed
Method
- In a bowl add gram flour, red chilli powder, turmeric powder, garam masala, salt, curd and water mix well without lumps.
- In a bowl add leftover semiya upma, red chilli powder ,turmeric, salt, gram flour & rice flour mix well.
- Heat oil in a pan, drop semiya pakoda mixture, deepfry till crisp and golden brown.
- Heat oil in a pan add mustard seeds, cumin seeds & let it splutter.
- Then add hing, curry leaves, onion, green chilli & garlic sauté till soft.
- Add gram flour curd mixture, mix well & let it boil for 5 min or boil till raw smell out. [Add water if required]
- Once its ready, add coriander leaves, cut off heat.
- Add fried semiya pakoda & Serve hot with idli, dosa or uthappam
Notes and variations
- You can add onion pakoda, masala vada, urad dal vada, adai mixture vada, bread vada/pakora, gram flour pakoda, spinach, methi etc.
- You can add dry red chilli & grated coconut.
- You can add ground cumin, ginger, green chilli & coconut paste[For flavour]
- You can add kasoori methi / 1 tbsp sugar
How to make Instant kadhi pakora-Step by step photos
In a bowl add gram flour, & salt
Add garam masala, turmeric and red chilli powder
Add curd,mix well, make smooth batter
Add 1/2 cup of water, mix well. Batter ready, keep it aside
In a bowl add leftover semiya upma,turmerci, red chilli powder, & salt
Add gram flour & rice flour
Mix well
Take small portion
Drop in in hot oil
Deep fry till crisp
Crispy pakoda ready, drain on absorbent paper
Heat 2 tbsp oil in a pan add seasoning ingredients
Ginger, green chilli
Add gram flour curd mixture
Mix well, add water if required
Boil on medium flame for 5 min
Add salt if required
Cover lid cook for 3 min
Now its ready, cut off heat
Add coriander leaves
Delicious kadhi pakoda ready
Serve hot with rice, idli, dosa or chapathi
