Ingredients
- Fresh toor dal[Freash pigeon pea]- ½ cup
- Shallots – 5
- Garlic –2 cloves
- Dry red chilli – 1
- Curry leaves – 1 spring
- Coriander leaves – 2 spring [chopped]
- Red chilli powder – ¼ tbsp
- Mustard seeds – 1 tbsp
- Fennel seeds – ½ tbsp
- Urad dal – ½ tbsp
- Oil – 2 tbsp
- Salt to taste
- Water as needed
Roasting and grinding ingredients
- Shallots [sambar onion] – 10
- Garlic – 4
- Ginger – 1 inch
- Curry leaves – 1 spring
- Dry red chilli – 1
- Peppercorns – ½ tsp
- Fennel seeds – 1 tbsp
- Cumin seeds – 1 tbsp
- Coriander seeds – 1 tbsp
- Heat oil in a pan then add ingredients roast then cool it and coarsely grind.
Method
- Peel off the green toor dal skin
- Then wash & boil with red chilli powder, turmeric & salt added water till soft.
- Heat oil in a pan then add mustard seeds & fennel seeds.
- Once it’s spluttered then add urad dal
- Add onion, garlic, curry leaves & dry red chilli sauté.
- Add boiled green toor dal, turmeric & red chilli powder mix well.
- Then add ground paste and salt mix well & Let it boil for 5 min.
- Cut off heat then serve hot with rice.
How to make Green toor dal kurma-Step by step photos
Peel off the green toor dal skin, wash and boil
Add turmeric powder
Add red chilli powder
Add salt cook till soft
Heat pan add urad dal, bengal gram
Add fennel, cumin, coriander, peppercorns, add oil saute
Add onion, garlic, ginger saute
Add curry leaves saute
Add roasted ingredients in a mixie jar, finely grind
Ground masala mixture ready, keep it aside
Heat oil, add mustard, fennel seeds, curry leaves
Add onion, garlic saute till light brown
Add boiled green toor dal saute
Add ground mixture mix well
Add water let it boil for 5 min then cut off heat
Green toor dal kurma ready, serve hot with rice, idli, dosa or uthappam
