Ingredients

  • Toor dal – 1 cup
  • Tomato – 1[Chopped]
  • Curry leaves – 1 spring
  • Coriander Leaves – 1 spring [chopped]
  • Turmeric powder – ¼ tsp
  • Red chilli powder – ½ tsp
  • Dry red chilli – 1
  • Mustard seeds – 1 tbsp
  • Cumin seeds – 1 tbsp
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil – 1 tbsp
  • Ghee – 1 tbsp
  • Water as needed

Preparation

  • Wash and boil toor dal with turmeric powder in a cooker for 4 whistles.
  • Heat oil, ghee in a pan then add mustard seeds. Once it’s spluttered add cumin seeds, curry leaves and dry red chilli.
  • Add tomato, salt and red chilli powder sauté till soft. Then add boiled toor dal & salt mix well, leave it for boil. Then cut off heat.
  • Sprinkle coriander leaves & Serve hot with basmati rice.

Note

  • You can add green chilli, onion, ginger or garlic when seasoning
