Ragi kara kozhukattai | Finger Millet dumplings-How to make-stepwise pictures & Video

Ingredients
- Ragi flour (kezhvaragu maavu, finger millet powder)-1 cup
- Grated Coconut- ½ to 1 cup
- Onion – 1 [finely chopped]
- Ginger – 1 tbsp [finely chopped]
- Green chilli – 1 [finely chopped]
- Coriander leaves – 1 spring [chopped]
- Curry leaves – 2 springs [chopped]
- Capsicum – ¼ cup [finely chopped]
- Mustard seeds – 1 tbsp
- Urad dal – 1 tbsp
- Bengal gram – 1 tbsp
- Salt to taste
- Oil – 2 tbsp
- Water as needed
Preparation
- Seasoning: heat oil in a pan add mustard seeds & let it splutter. Then add Bengal gram, urad dal, onion sauté till soft.
- Add ginger, green chilli, capsicum & curry leaves sauté. Then cut off heat.
- Take ragi flour, grated coconut, salt, coriander leaves, & seasoned ingredients in a bowl and mix well, then sprinkle water & make soft dough.
- Take a lemon size of dough and make kolukattai (using your five fingers).
- Then steam it for 10 minutes in a steamer (idli cooker or idli koppar) & serve hot with tomato tamarind chutney.

Add Ragi flour in a bowl
Add salt
Add Coconut
Heat oil[2 tbsp] in a pan, Add mustard seeds, let it spluttter
Add Bengal gram
Add Urad dal
Add Onion
Add curry leaves, carrot saute for 2min
Add Coriander leaves & mint leaves
Add seasoned ingredients
Mix well
Add Water mix well till pidi kozhukattai consistency
Shape kozhukattai
Place it in idli plates
Place it in idli steamer
Cover lid & cook for 10 min
After 10 min, check
Ragi kolukattai is ready, serve hot with green chutney
