How to make Mixed veg kootu video


Ingredients

  • Carrot - 1
  • Potato - 2
  • Ridge gourd [Peerkangai] - 1
  • Broad beas [ avaraikai] - 1/4 cup
  • Chow chow - 1
  • Cluster beans [Kothavarangai]- 1/4 cup
  • Curry leaves – 1 spring
  • Mustard seeds – 1 tbsp
  • Turmeric powder – ¼ tsp
  • Red chilli powder - 1/2 tsp
  • Asafetida a pinch
  • Chana dal - 1 tsp
  • Urad dal - 1 tsp
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil – 2 tbsp
  • Water as needed

For roasting and grinding

  • Bengal gram – ½ tbsp
  • Urad dal – ½ tbsp
  • Dry red chilli - 1
  • Coconut – 2 tbsp
  • Cumin seeds – 1 tbsp
  • Coriander seeds – 1 tbsp
  • Pepper corns- 1/4 tsp
  • Oil – 1 tbsp
  • Heat oil in a pan then roast ingredients. Then grind to smooth paste.

Method

  • Heat oil in a pan then add mustard seeds.
  • Once it’s spluttered add chana dal, urad dal, curry leaves, & asafetida sauté gently.
  • Add vegetables, salt, red chilli powder and turmeric powder mix well.
  • Add water cook for 5 min.
  • Then add ground paste mix well.
  • Then add ½ cup water boil for 5 min
  • Once its ready, cut off heat & serve hot with idli, dosa, rice, pongal, paal pongal or upma
