  • Kathirikai[Brinjal,eggplant,baingan] – 1 cup [Cut into stripes]
  • Peppercorns[Milagu] – 1 tbsp [Freshly grind]
  • Garlic –3 cloves
  • Red chilli powder -1 tsp
  • Turmeric powder – ¼ tsp
  • Curry leaves –1 spring
  • Bengal gram – 1 tbsp
  • Urad dal – 1 tbsp
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil21 tbsp
  • Water as needed


  • Wash and slice brinjal then put it in turmeric added water
  • Heat oil in a pan, add mustard seeds, bengal gram & urad dal
  • Add garlic, curry leaves saute
  • Add brinjal saute for a min.
  • Add turmeric, red chilli powder, saute for a min
  • Sprinkle water, cook till soft
  • Add salt and freshly ground pepper saute for a min
  • Then cut off heat, serve hot with rice
