Karamani cowpea masala bonda | Black eyed peas masala bonda vadai

Ingredients
- Karamani [Cowpea, black eyed pea] – 1 cup
- Onion – 1 [finely chopped]
- Green chilli - 1 [finely chopped]
- Ginger – 1 tbsp [finely chopped]
- Garlic - 3 cloves
- Fennel seeds- 1 tbsp
- Cumin seeds - 1 tsp
- Dry red chilli - 2
- Coconut – 1 tbsp [thinly chopped, optional]
- Curry leaves – 3 springs [finely chopped]
- Coriander leaves – 2 springs
- Peppercorns – 3 [crushed]
- Cumin seeds – ½ tbsp
- Salt to taste
- Oil for deep frying
Preparation
- Soak cowpea for 8 hours. Then drain water.
- Add fennel, cumin, peppercorns, coriander,green chilli, curry leaves, ginger & garlic coarsely grind.
- Then add cowpea & salt in a mixer jar finely grind with small amount of water. [Dont add too much water while grinding, Batter should be Soft & fluffy]
- Transfer batter to a bowl, add coconut, onion mix well & make ball shape or oval shape using spoon then deep fry till golden brown & crisp in medium hot oil.
- Serve hot with chutney, green chilli, or tomato sauce.
