Karamani bonda | Cowpea fritters-Step by step photos & video

Ingredients
- Karamani [Cowpea, black eyed pea] – 1 cup
- Onion – 1 [finely chopped]
- Green chilli - 1 [finely chopped]
- Ginger – 1 tbsp [finely chopped]
- Garlic - 3 cloves
- Fennel seeds- 1 tbsp
- Cumin seeds - 1 tsp
- Green chilli - 2
- Curry leaves – 3 springs [finely chopped]
- Coriander leaves – 2 springs
- Salt to taste
- Oil for deep frying
Preparation
- Soak cowpea for 8 hours. Then drain water.
- In a mixie jar, Add cumin, coriander,green chilli, curry leaves, ginger & garlic coarsely grind.
- Then add cowpea & salt in a mixer jar finely grind
- Transfer batter to a bowl, add onion mix well & make ball shape or oval shape using spoon then deep fry till golden brown & crisp in medium hot oil.
- Serve hot with chutney, green chilli, or tomato sauce.

Add 1 cup karamani
Wash and soak it for 8 hours or overnight
8 hours later, drain water
In a mixie jar, add ginger, cumin seeds, garlic, green chilli, curry leaves
Add karamani, salt, coarsely grind without water
Mixture ready
Add rice flour, onion, mix well
Heat oil, drop balls
Deep fry till crisp and golden brown
Deep fry for a min
Now its ready, remove it from oil
Crispy karamani bonda ready, serve hot with sauce, green chutney or coconut chutney
