Ingredients
- Maize flour [Yellow corn flour] – 1 cup
- Coconut – 2 tbsp [grated]
- Curry leaves – 1 spring
- Green chilli – 1 [chopped]
- Mustard seeds -1 tbsp
- Bengal gram – 1 tbsp
- Urad dal – ½ tbsp
- Red chilli powder – ½ tsp
- Water – ¾ to 1 cup
- Salt to taste
- Oil – 1 tbsp
- Gingelly oil – 1 tbsp
Method
- In a bowl, add maize flour & water mix well & make idli batter consistency without lumps.
- Heat pan, pour batter and stir continuously till mixture becomes chapatti soft dough consistency.
- Then pour 1 tbsp of ginelly oil over the dough.
- Divide the dough into equal size balls.
- Heat idli cooker with water & let it boil. Then grease idly plates with oil, Place prepared balls & place it in boiling water, cover lid and steam it for 5 to 8 min.
- Heat oil in a pan, add mustard seeds & let it splutter. Then add Bengal gram & urad dal sauté till light brown.
- Add green chilli & curry leaves sauté gently. Then add red chilli powder & grated coconut sauté gently.
- Add steamed balls & sauté gently then cut off heat. Serve hot.
