Moong dal suzhiyam | Pasi paruppu seeyam without deep fry-How to make-Step by step photos

Ingredients
- Moong dal[pasi paruppu]- 1 cup
- Jaggery [vellam]- 3/4 cup to 1 cup
- Cardamom powder - 1 tbsp
- Ghee - 2 tbsp
- Water as needed
- Idli batter - 1/4 cup
Preparation
- Dry roast moong dal till light brown
- Wash moong dal 2 to 3 times then cook till soft
- Drain excess water , finely grind without water.
- Heat pan add jaggery & 1/4 cup water cook till syrup consistency.
- Heat pan add ghee, moong dal mixture, jaggery syrup cook for 5 min
- Add cardamom powder & roasted coconut, cut off heat.
- Divide them into equal portions, Then make equal size balls[ladoo] out of it.
- Heat paniyaram / appam pan, Add 1 tbsp oil & ghee, dip moong dal dal balls in idli batter place it in appam cavity, cook till crisp on both sides.
- Then serve with tea or coffee
Tip
- You can use wheat flour batter:-Wheat flour, corn flour, pinch of salt & water
- You can use simple maida batter also.
- You can use deep fry method also.
- You can use peanuts, carrot halwa balls, rava halwa balls& red kidney beans for stuffing.
- Instead of Jaggery brown sugar or white sugar can be used.
- If you dont have time, skip soaking process & directly cook in pressure cooker.
- You can add any almond powder, cahew powder etc.
- You can use desiccated coconut.
- You can use paneer, mava, khova, milk cake or oreos in this stuffing.
- Deep fry method: In case chana dal stuffing is too loose, it will separate in oil but in appam pan method 100 % perfect.
How to make moong dal suzhiyam[No fry]-Step by step photos
Dry roast moong dal
Wash and cook till soft
Now its ready, cut off heat
Add grated coconut
Add jaggery syrup
Cook till thick
Cook for 2 more min
add cardamom powder
Cut off heat, let it cool, make balls
In a bowl add maida, pinch of salt
Add corn flour
Mix well
Add water, mix well
Batter is ready
Divide the mixture into equal size balls
Moong dal balls ready
Dip balls in batter
Coat with batter
Heat pan palce balls, cook till crisp and golden brown
Flip over cook till crisp and golden brown
Now its ready, remove it from pan
No fry moong dal suzhiyan ready
