Kolam rice-How to cook perfectly in pressure cooker & open pan-Step by step photos [Non sticky]

Ingredients
- Kolam rice -2 cups
- Water – 6 cups [open pan method], Water - 5 cups [in pressure cooker]
Preparation Method 1-open pan method
- Wash and soak the rice for 30 min
- Heat pan add 6 cups of water, let it boil
- Once its boiled add soaked kolam rice.
- Cook till soft.
- Oce its ready, cut off heat, cover lid & leave it for 5 min.
- Then serve hot with any gravy.
Tip
- If it complete cooks before filter the excess water the rice becomes sticky.
- Use the basmati rice cooked water for making kanji.
- Use the filtered water to make rice Kanji or clear soup.
Preparation Method 2-Pressure Cooker method
- Wash and soak the rice for 15 min. Then drain water
- In a pressure cooker put 2 cup rice, 5 cups of water mix gently then cook for 3 whistles.

Take 2 cups of kolam rice
Wash 2 to 3 times
Add 5 cups of water
Soak it for 30 min
Cover lid & cook for 3 to 4whistles
After 3 whistles
Remove steam, perfect kolam rice ready
Non-sticky
Perfect plain kolam rice for lunch ready
Boiled kolam rice
For open pan, add 2 cups rice-6 cups of water
Boil till soft
Now its ready
Cut off heat
Cover lid and leave it for 5 min
