Dal tadka recipe-Punjab special lentil curry for rice

Ingredients
- Toor dal - 1 cup
- Onion - 1 [finely chopped]
- Tomato - 1 [finely chopped]
- Ginger -1 tbsp [finely chopped]
- Garlic -1 tbsp [finley chopped]
- Dry red chilli - 1
- Green chilli - 1 [slit]
- Coriander leaves - 2 springs [chopped]
- Curry leaves – 1 spring
- Asafetida - ¼ tsp
- Turmeric powder - ¼ tsp
- Red chilli powder - ½ tsp
- Mustard seeds - 1 tbsp
- Cumin seeds - ½ tbsp
- Salt to taste
- Oil – 2 tbsp
- Water as needed
Preparation
- Wash toor dal.
- Heat pressure cook add toor dal, turmeric powder & enough water cover it & cook for 4 whistles.
- Heat oil in a pan add mustard seeds & let it splutter then add cumin seeds, & asafetida.
- Add onion sauté till soft then add ginger, garlic, green chilli, curry leaves & dry red chilli sauté.
- Add tomato, turmeric powder, & red chilli powder sauté till soft then add boiled toor dal and salt mix well & let it boil.
- When boiling, add chopped coriander leaves & serve hot with rice.
