Cabbage moong dal poriyal By

Ingredients

  • Cabbage – 1 cup [grated]
  • Moong dal – ¼ cup
  • Onion – 1 [finely chopped]
  • Green chilli – 1 [sliced]
  • Coconut – ¼ cup [grated]
  • Curry leaves -1 spring
  • Turmeric powder – ¼ tsp
  • Red chilli powder – ½ tbsp
  • Coriander powder – ½ tbsp
  • Mustard seeds – ½ tbsp
  • Bengal gram – 1 tbsp
  • Urad dal – 1 tbsp
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil – 2 tbsp
  • Water as needed.

Preparation

  • Wash and soak moong dal for 2 hours. Then drain water.
  • Heat oil in a pan then add mustard seeds. Once it’s spluttered add Bengal gram, urad dal sauté gently.
  • Add onion sauté till soft. Then add green chilli and curry leaves.
  • Add cabbage, turmeric powder, red chilli powder and salt sauté well. Add water then cook till soft.
  • Add moong dal and coriander powder mix well and cook for another 2 min.
  • Add coconut mix well. Then cut off heat. Serve hot with rice.
