Simple poha upma | Aval Upma Recipe | Flattened rice upma with plain sev sprinkles

Ingredients
- Poha[Pohe, Avul, Flattened rice, Aval] – 1 cup
- Onion – 1 [sliced or chopped]
- Ginger – 1 tbsp [finely chopped]
- Green chilli – 1 [slit]
- Curry leaves – 1 spring
- Coriander leaves – 2 springs [chopped]
- Mustard seeds – 1 tbsp
- Bengal gram – 1 tbsp
- Urad dal – 1 tbsp
- Sev [Plain Sev, omapodi] – 3 tbsp [for garnish]
- Salt to taste
- Oil – 2 tbsp
Method
- Wash smooth Aval and drain water. Don’t soak aval.
- Heat oil in a pan then add mustard seed & let it splutter. Add Bengal gram & urad dal.
- Then add onion sauté well then add ginger, green chilli & curry leaves.
- Add aval and salt then mix well. Then add chopped coriander leaves.
- Cut off heat, sprinkle sev & serve hot with pickle, chips, coconut chutney.
