Ingredients
- Palak [Spinach, pasalai keerai] - 10 leaves
- Besan [gram flour, kadalai maavu] – 1 cup
- Rice flour – 3 tbsp
- Red chilli powder – 1 tsp
- Turmeric powder- ¼ tsp
- Asafetida a pinch
- Oil - 1 tbsp
- Salt to taste
- Water as needed
- Oil – ¼ ltr [for frying]
Preparation Method
- Wash spinach leaves, place it on cotton cloth, wipe off extra water.
- Add gram flour, rice flour, salt, asafetida, red chilli & turmeric powder then add water mix well & make batter without lumps
- Add 1 tbsp of hot oil into gram flour batter for crispiness & fluffy
- Heat oil in a pan, dip spinach leaves in the prepared batter, drop it in oil, deep fry till crisp & golden brown both sides on medium hot oil
- Once its ready remove from oil, drain on absorbent paper & serve hot with tea or coffee.

In a bowl add gram flour, rice flour, asafoetida
Add red chilli powder, turmeric powder
Add 1 tbsp oil
Add salt
Mix well, add water, make smooth batter
Batter ready
Dip spinach leaves in gram flour batter
Drop it in hot oil
Deep fry till crisp & golden brown
Crispy palak pakoda ready, remove it from oil, drain on absorbent paper
Spinach pakoda ready, serve hot with greeen chutney or red chutney
