Carrot Paruppu Sadam | Carrot Toor dal Rice

Ingredients
- Rice – 1 cup
- Carrot -1 [cut in to cubes]
- Toor dal – ½ cup
- Sambar onion - 6
- Garlic – 2 cloves
- Cumin seeds – ½ tbsp
- Turmeric powder – ¼ tsp
- Oil - 2 tbsp
Seasoning ingredients
- Mustard seeds – 1 tbsp
- Cumin seeds – ½ tbsp
- Peppercorns – 6 [optional]
- Bengal gram – ½ tbsp
- Urad dal – ½ tbsp
- Dry red chilli - 2
- Curry leaves – 1 spring
- Salt to taste
Method
- Wash toor dal and rice.
- In a pressure cooker take rice with toor dal then add cumin seeds, garlic, sambar onion, carrot and turmeric powder. Then add 3 ½ cup of water and cook for 4 whistles.
- Heat pan with oil add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, Bengal, gram, urad dal, dry red chilli and curry leaves.
- Add seasoning ingredients to cooked rice and add salt mix well.
- Serve hot with pickle and chutney
