Kollu thanni rasam | Horse gram stock soup

Ingredients
- Kollu [Horse Gram] – ¼ cup
- Garlic – 3 cloves [mashed]
- Dry red chilli – 1
- Turmeric powder – ¼ tsp
- Curry leaves – 1 spring
- Mustard seeds - 1 tbsp
- Asafetida a pinch
- Salt to taste
- Oil – 1 tbsp
- Water as needed
For Roasting & grinding Ingredients
- Peppercorns - 5
- Coriander seeds - 1/2 tbsp
- Cumin seeds – 1 tbsp
- Dry roast then grind to fine or coarse powder
Preparation
- Wash and boil horse gram in a cooker for 5 whistles. Then drain water.
- Use boiled horse gram for salad or sundal.
- Heat oil in a pan then add mustard seeds let it splutter. Then add garlic sauté.
- Add dry red chilli and curry leaves sauté. Then add asafoetida & turmeric powder.
- Add horse gram stock water, salt mix well.
- Add freshly ground powder, mix well & let it to boil.
- When boiling cut off heat then sprinkle coriander leaves serve hot with rice.
