How to make One pot Carrot mullangi sambar video
Ingredients
- Yellow pumpkin [Parangikai, arasanikai, kaddu] – 1 cup [cut into circles]
- Toor dal – ¼ cup
- Tamarind water – 1/4 cup [soak 1 inch size tamarind in warm water, squeeze &extract water]
- Tomato – 1 [chopped]
- Onion [Shallots] - 7
- Green chilli – 1 [slit]
- Garlic – 3 cloves
- Curry leaves – 1 spring
- Coriander leaves – 2 springs [chopped]
- Turmeric powder – ¼ tsp
- Red chilli powder – ½ tsp
- Sambar powder - 2 tbsp
- Mustard seeds – 1 tbsp
- Asafetida a pinch
- Salt to taste
- Oil – 2 tbsp
- Water as needed
Method
- Wash toor dal 2 to 3 times.
- Wash & remove yellow pumpkin then chop.
- Heat pressure cooker add oil, mustard, chana dal, & urad dal fry for a min.
- Add fenugreek powder saute for a min
- Add curry leaves, asafoetida, green chilli, onion, saute well
- Add garlic, turmeric, red chilli powder, tomato, yellow pumpkin, mix well
- Add toor dal, saute for a min
- Add water, cover lid & cook for 3 to 4 whistles.
- Then add tamarind water, cook for 5 min
- Add coriander leaves, cut off heat
- Then serve hot with rice, idli or dosa.

Perfect carrot mullangi sambar
Heat pan, add mustard, urad dal, chana dal
Add onion, garlic, green chilli, & curry leaves
Add fenugreek powder
Add tomato
Add radish, carrot, turmeric, red chilli powder
Saute for 3 min
Add water
Boil till soft
Heat pan, add chana dal, urad dal, cumin, coriander, coconut, dry red chilli, curry leaves
Put roasted ingredients in a mixie jar, finely grind
Add boiled moong dal
Add ground mixture
Boil
Add tamarind mixture
Boil for 5 min
Add coriander leaves, cut off heat
Transfer sambar to a mud pot
Serve hot with rice
