Ingredients

  • Karamani kai [Payathankai, Long Beans] – ¼ kilo or 1 cup
  • Onion – 1 [sliced]
  • Green chilli -1 [slit]
  • Coconut – ¼ cup [grated]
  • Curry leaves – 1 spring
  • Turmeric powder – ¼ tsp
  • Red chilli powder – ½ tsp
  • Coriander powder – ½ tbsp
  • Mustard seeds – 1 tbsp
  • Bengal gram – 1 tbsp
  • Urad dal – 1 tbsp
  • Salt to taste
  • Water as needed
  • Oil – 2 tbsp

Preparation

  • Wash and chop karamani kai.
  • Heat pan with oil then add mustard seeds. Once it’s spluttered add Bengal gram & urad dal.
  • Add onion sauté till soft. Then add green chilli, 2 tbsp coconut and curry leaves.
  • Add chopped karamani kai, turmeric & red chilli powder mix well, sauté for 2 min then add water boil till soft.
  • Add coriander powder, salt & coconut mix well. Leave it for 1 min. then cut off heat.
    Serve hot with rice
