Thinai Idli

Ingredients

  • Thinai arisi [Foxtail millet]– 2 cups
  • Urad dal – ¾ cup
  • Fenugreek – 1 tbsp
  • Sea salt or Salt to taste
  • Water as needed

Method

  • Wash and Soak thinai arisi, urad dal with fenugreek separately for 6 to 7 hours.
  • Drain water then grind well. Transfer urad dal, thinai arisi, fenugreek seeds mixture to a bowl mix well, add sea salt & leave the batter for fermentation [approximately. 8 hours, fermentation hours differs from region to region & weather conditions].
  • Grease idly plates with gingelly oil. Pour idly batter. Then steam it for 10 min.
    Serve hot with coconut chutney and Sambar.
