Channa[Chickpea] Sundal By

Ingredients

  • White Channa[Kondakadalai, chickpea] – 1 cup[wash & soak overnight]
  • Onion – 1[sliced, For Navrathri-Dont Add onion & garlic]
  • Green chilli – 1[slit]
  • Curry leaves – 1 spring
  • Coriander leaves – 2 springs [chopped]
  • Coconut – ¼ cup [grated]
  • Red chilli powder – ½ tsp
  • Turmeric powder – ¼ tsp
  • Mustard seeds – 1 tbsp
  • Bengal gram – 1 tbsp
  • Urad dal – 1 tbsp
  • Oil – 2 tbsp
  • Salt to taste
  • Water as needed

Preparation

  • Wash & Boil channa in pressure cooker for 5 to 6 whistles.
  • Heat pan with oil then add mustard seeds. Once it’s spluttered add Bengal gram & urad dal.
  • Add onion sauté till soft. Then add green chilli, 2 tbsp coconut and curry leaves.
  • Add boiled channa, turmeric & red chilli powder mix well, sauté for 2 min.
  • Add salt & coconut mix well. Leave it for 1 min, cut off heat & sprinkle coriander leaves mix well.
  • Serve hot with rice
