Cabbage poriyal | Muttaikose poriyal

Ingredients

  • Cabbage – 1 cup [shred or grate]
  • Onion – 1[chopped]
  • Green chilli – 1[sliced]
  • Grated coconut – ¼ cup
  • Curry leaves – 1 spring
  • Mustard seeds – 1 tbsp
  • Cumin seeds – ½ tbsp
  • Bengal gram – ½ tbsp
  • Urad dal – ½ tbsp
  • Red chilli powder – ½ tsp
  • Turmeric powder – ¼ tsp
  • Coriander powder – ½ tbsp
  • Cumin powder – ½ tsp
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil – 2 tbsp
  • Water as needed

Preparation

  • Heat pan with oil, add mustard seed, cumin seed, bengal gram and urad dal. Then add onion sauté till soft. Add green chilli and curry leaves.
  • Add grated cabbage, turmeric powder, red chilli powder and salt sauté well. Then add water, cover lid and cook for 5 min.
  • Once cabbage turned soft add coriander powder, cumin powder and coconut mix well. Leave it for another 3 min. Then cut off heat serve hot with rice
