Green gram payasam with jaggery | Matki dal kheer | Pachai payaru vella payasam

Ingredients

  • Green gram – 1 cup
  • Jaggery – ¼ cup [grated] or you can use brown sugar, sugar or honey
  • Cardamom powder – ½ tbsp
  • Cashew nuts – 7
  • Raisins – 10
  • Almonds -5
  • Ghee – 3 tbsp

Preparation

  • Dry roast green gram then wash. Boil in cooker for 4 whistles.
  • Heat pan with ghee then roast cashews, almonds, and raisins.
  • Heat another pan add jaggery let it dissolve then drain impurities.
  • Then pour dissolved jaggery into the green gram mixture let it boil.
  • Add cardamom powder mix well.
  • Finally add almonds, cashews and raisins. Then serve hot

Note

  • For another variation of kerala pradhaman :-You can make cherupayar parippu payasam with coconut milk
